The End

It's been an unacceptably long time between posts. It's not as though I haven't had anything to write about either. Ah well. Today's the last day of the academic year at Royal Holloway and so technically it's my last day as a student. I know I'm going to miss being around here but at the same time it's about the right time to leave. At least I passed my degree, though I am yet to discover if I passed it well. I suspect not. Anyway, for the forseeable future everything's going to seem quite scary, but we'll have to see how things pan out.

Enough of that for now. This week has been a week of quite good things. I liked this interview with David Mitchell in the Guardian. It's simultaneously peculiar and reassuring that one of the finest comic talents of his generation lives in such modest surroundings. As someone who's been single for what's increasingly becoming an embarrassing length of time, I found myself relating a lot to the second half of the piece regarding Mitchell's failure to establish a relationship. Unrequited love can take a long time to mentally recover from, I can appreciate his reluctance to
pursue romance.

On a more professional note, Series 3 of That Mitchell and Webb Look started last night and I found it more miss than hit. A well observed Apprentice parody was the highlight among a number of confusing concepts, obvious jokes and good ideas executed poorly. Hopefully it'll pick up.

The Peacock and Gamble Podcast with Ray Peacock and Ed Gamble also started this week. The podcast is a spinoff of sorts from The Ray Peacock Podcast which ended after four series at the end of last year and is well worth downloading. Incredibly childish and incredibly funny, the pair this week discuss being banned from the Tower of London, make an honest assessment of their own talent and prove it's never too early to discuss disabled rape. You can download it from here.

The programme for the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival was also released yesterday. The comedy section is pretty impressive. I'm still not sure whether or not to go, I'll make a decision on it soon. Here's hoping I manage another blog before 21st July.
