Weigh In: Week 1
In the hope of providing some additional motivation for what Slimming World would doubtless describe as my "weight loss journey", I'm going to post my weight up here on Tuesday or Wednesday each week where possible. I had not factored in the fact that the first Tuesday after Christmas sees a huge spike in attendance/new member sign ups. Waiting in the queue to be weighed for 40 minutes certainly added an additional sense of tension to the experience.
Previous Weight: 21 stone, 3 pounds.
New Weight: 20 stone, 10.5 pounds
Weight Loss: 6.5 pounds
Total 2015 Weight Loss: 6.5 pounds
I am chuffed with this although I have to add the caveat that I put on 10 pounds over the Christmas period. Nonetheless it feels good to put a sizable dent in that gain. I have on a couple of occasions lost that amount of weight in the past 6 months and while it is a pleasant surprise, it's an unrealistic expectation. I would be delighted if I could continue losing at a steady rate and I'm targeting 2 pounds a week. In the short term, I'd like to get below 20 stone.
A major issue however, is consistency. I've only had a couple of weeks where I've completely fallen off the wagon, but quite a few where I've gained small amounts after a decent loss the week before. I find it particularly difficult to deny myself sweet things like cookies and doughnuts for long periods, but I am still managing better than I used to. Putting on a pound here or there isn't the end of the world, but I'd like to get a few consecutive weeks of losses to build some momentum.
I also went to the dentists today for the first time in three years. However much I may dislike going there and fear the consequences, to have waited that long is frankly ludicrous. Surprisingly, I was given the all clear with no issues. For someone who has eaten to the extent of becoming morbidly obese and drunk industrial amounts of cola for the past 15 years, I consider myself very fortunate. But it's a decent start towards getting my shit together in 2015.
