So This Is The New Year....And I Don't Feel Any Different
You know what would be better than a year of daily blogs? Two years of daily blogs. Nah, that's not going to happen. I'm going to continue to post when I feel like I've got something to talk about, which should bring an end to the stupidly short entries.
I've been reviewing the end of year bargains available on Google Play. "Back On Top" by The Front Bottom is available for £2.99 and is well worth picking up if you're into indie/punk/pop-punk. I toyed with the idea of doing a "Best Of 2015" list in music and film, but found the whittling down process a bit too difficult. Well, that and the fact I'd just end up talking about Tellison again. But "Back On Top" would probably have ended up just behind "Hope Fading Nightly". Death Cab For Cutie's "Kintsugi" is also available for £2.99. It's not their best work but it's a fine collection of tracks nonetheless.
Had I done the same with films, "Whiplash" would have come out on top, with honourable mentions to "Birdman", "Bridge Of Spies", "Mr Holmes" and "The Martian" amongst others. My use of quotation marks where they are not strictly necessary is starting to annoy even me. Maybe that should be my new year's resolution*.
The ubiquity of streaming services these days means that buying films digitally is not really a cost effective proposition. But I plan to rent Inside Out at some point over the weekend to reassess whether I was a little hard on it in my review.
*It won't be. That'll be the subject of another upcoming blog.
